Far too true about the crit levels ...Awesome entry! Far too true about the crit levels :P [WARNING EXTREME DOUBLE ENTENDRE] I myself usually prefer to give and receive at "but" level. [WARNING EXTREME DOUBLE ENTENDRE]

In all seriousness, part of it is that eventually a creative has to transcend what it is they are doing at that moment, it has to become less about the work itself, and more about the creator and their long-term development. The work itself, the actual piece of art (for example), has no value. The minute the artist becomes attached to a piece of their work, they can no longer handle top level crits, because they will never be able to step back far enough to learn that each piece is just a bump in that road towards personal improvement. The goal isn't necessarily to improve the picture or model or creation, it's to learn from it for the next one.

This quickly becomes true in any industry also, but is a fact of life; Your work has no value, it is disposable and you have to be ready to scrap it if necessary, do it from scratch at a minutes notice. Not many people can step this far back or learn to understand this, they connect their self esteem to that piece itself, and thus, HELL MODE is string of hurtful personal insults, not advice.

Of course, most of this high-concept critique is for people serious about art and playing in the big conceptual leagues. In design quality is far more subjective and difficult to define, for the most part, so I can get away with not setting myself alight with hurtful critique ;)DexterXShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08189677091450700064noreply@blogger.com
